At the shoreline, there are a few feet of smooth stones, then a beautiful sandy bottom. No muck or weeds here! You have to go out about 80 feet to get to a 3 foot depth. This is great, safe swimming for little people! The large dock and shore stations are set to the side of the lot so your view is unobstructed. Everything is comfortable! Beautiful, cedar-sided chalet-style cottage with 100 feet of direct Mullett Lake frontage and full lake access. Your summer rental includes the use of an oversized dock and a hoist for up to a 20-foot power boat. Hoist and dock are available from late spring until and early fall, from about May 15th through October 1st. There is a public boat launch 1/4 mile away, and our driveway will accommodate a boat trailer. Or, boats are available for rent from several marinas on the lake. Our cottage has a large deck with a stainless-steel grill and comfy, padded deck furniture. There is also a large lawn on the lake side of the house with lawn chairs and chaise lounges. Inside, the main floor contains a great room with a natural fireplace, television, and comfortable seating; a fully-equipped kitchen; and a dining area overlooking the lake. The main floor also contains a bedroom with a queen-sized bed, jacuzzi tub and flat-screen TV; the main bathroom with a shower; a laundry room with a washer and dryer; and a half bath. Satellite service is available on both TV's. The second level consists of a large loft-style bedroom with a queen-sized bed, two futons, a sitting area, and a desk area. A third bedroom, with a queen-sized bed, dresser, and walk-in closet, is located on the lower level. We are situated on a secluded, calm bay on the east side of Mullett Lake. There are only 4 houses located on our street and the property is surrounded by woods. The lake remains shallow for quite a distance in front of our house, and is great for swimming. Water-ski, tube, kayak or canoe right in front of the house. Boat throughout the Inland Waterway, and check out restaurants and bars in Indian River and Cheboygan, not to mention the large sandbar at the mouth of the Cheboygan River! In the Fall, the lake is beautiful with Autumn colors and cool temperatures. Winter fun continues with snowshoeing and snowmobiling right on the lake. Fall and Winter can also bring opportunities for viewing the Northern Lights right over the lake, or check out the nearby Headlands Dark Sky Park. Larger boats, deep draft - V bottom boats will need to use the mooring approximately 75 yards off the dock. A gas barbeque grill, picnic table, fire pit, horseshoes, volleyball/badminton, two kayaks and lawn chairs are available for your enjoyment by the lake. Mullett Lake is a 10-mile long, spring-fed, crystal–clear lake. Pigeon bay is calm and ideal for fishing (walleye, bass, pike, trout, perch and muskie) or serious water skiing. Pontoon, water ski and fishing boat rentals are nearby. The lake is part of the great inland waterway, by which one can boat 45 miles through a wildlife-filled, scenic chain of lakes and rivers starting in Pickerel Lake to Lake Huron through two locks, four large lakes and three beautiful rivers. There's a local bald eagle that we see on a regular basis either soaring above the lake or catching fish. If you enjoy river tubing, kayaking or canoeing, be sure to plan a ride down the Sturgeon River which can be arranged through Big Bear Adventures in town. We are conveniently located to many nearby attractions such as downhill skiing in the winter months, and in the summer many fine golf courses nearby, parasailing along the mackinaw shores, entertaining water park located in Mackinaw City, or tour the historical forts of Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island which are within 30 minutes of a beautiful drive along the shores of Lake Huron. The area is known for its many fine restaurants, several are located along the inland waterway for boaters' convenience. We rent the cabin Saturday-Saturday, check-in time is at 4 p.m. and check out the following week at 10 a.m. sharp, or additional charges will apply. Wood can be bought through our supplier, inquire details. We have been a family run business for over 30 years and our renters seem to enjoy our hospitality. *Call for availability because the calendar is not accurate. We do not allow guns of any kind to be used on property including bb, paintball, or airsoft guns. No fireworks allowed. Boat trailer parking challenging LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION....Only 30 minutes from the Mackinac Bridge, the Merry Mullett Lake House is an old school, rustic family cottage. It's not fancy. It's not luxury. The summer price is based on its location and the deep, premier all-sports lake a part of northeast Michigan's Inland Waterway. At this old-school cottage, you will have access to a 60 foot private dock just outside your back door. Inside, Merry Mullett has slanted floors, which some claim feel like the Mystery Spot. It is not ideal for people with vertigo or any balance concerns. It is NOT handicap accessible. What do we mean by old school? The kitchen appliances all work, yet they are classic, or more often referred to as dated. The toilet in the main bathroom sits on a wood slab. The screens are stapled into the windows or taped. The mattresses feel like a step up from camping. You are coming to the Merry Mullett Lake House for the view, the gorgeous outside deck sitting on the water and being just feet from Mullett Lake. Located on popular Mullett Lake, this home sleeps 6, having 3 bedrooms and 1 ½ bathrooms. With picnic table, 2 deck areas, lawn chairs, and a gorgeous view, guests will enjoy their time relaxing and resting after a long day of fishing, boating, and swimming. The propane grill on the property will also speed dinner along, while the dogs and kids play in an open area. A private 60 ft. dock also accompanies the property, PLEASE DO NOT MOOR YOUR BOAT ON THE DOCK, THERE ARE BUOYS PLACED BY THE DOCK TO TIE OFF YOUR BOAT. However, the dock can be used for short periods of time, going to the bathroom, stopping to pick up lunch, to fish, etc... Rails to Trails (take a look) is within steps of the property; feel free to bring your bikes or walk the trails! This cabin is right off M-27, and while the majority of guests don't hear the traffic, we want to be sure you are aware that the state highway is nearby. Cheboygan, just 8 miles away, is a quaint city, with many historic sites. Golfers will enjoy the courses just a few miles from the property, and hunters will appreciate the populated gaming areas nearby. The layout is as follows: grass-water-sandy bottom lake (very clear). The Michigan DNR has been on top of the Zebra Mussels issue the past 2 years. There are barely any left. Owners have not seen any in a year. As a precaution, some guests may feel more comfortable wearing water-shoes while swimming. In addition, a public beach is about a ½ mile up the road. Freshwater Vacation Rentals currently charges $50/per pet for your entire stay. Yes, we do accept dogs, yet we do ask that you please clean up after them both inside and outside the cabin. Plus, if you allow them on the furniture, we do ask that you please bring your own linens/blankets for them to sleep on. Just let us know which bed you will be using with them, and we'll make sure it is ready for your sheets when you arrive. Plus, if the pet hair starts to build, we do ask that you please run the vacuum. Generally, dogs love the water and places to explore. Pet food does tend to attract mice, so vigilance is needed. Privacy: There are other cottages next door to this one. Space: The lake house is in such a wonderful location. Just 8 miles from Cheboygan and 25 minutes from the Mackinac Bridge. The 2-story home is modern, comfortable and comes equipped with basic amenities. ATV's: Black Mountain area 18 miles away. Guests area able park a trailer and a truck at the home, but there is no ATV driving on property. Animals: White-tailed deer, squirrels, variety of birds. Bathroom: Full Bathroom with tub and shower Beach/Swimming: It is a ½ mile away down the trail. The beach is a small grassy township beach which is 25 ft wide (you can put a kayak in the water there). It is more like a boat access feel. You can access the water or sit around by the water, but it is not a typical sandy beach area. Guests are encouraged to go to Aloha State Park, which is about 10 miles away, has a nice public beach area (sandy, picnic tables, playground, volleyball, etc.). The Gordan Turner Park, in Cheboygan is right on Lake Huron, which is 8 ½ miles away with a pleasant family atmosphere. Snowmobiles: A person (resident and nonresident) that operates a snowmobile in Michigan is required to purchase a snowmobile trail permit. The trail permit enables snowmobilers to ride state-designated trails and thousands more miles of public roads and on public lands (where authorized). It is valid for one year, which begins Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30 of the following year. State-designated trails are open Dec. 1-March 31 and grooming occurs when there is enough snow on the ground. Space: Ground-floor. Televisions: 2 Televisions (1 in family room and 1 in bedroom #3 -full size bed). Both do not have cable, they just have local channels. Bedroom #3 has a dvd player attached. We also have a day bed and a cot set up for more sleeping, and on request an air mattress will be provided.
